Big News: City Council Unanimously Approves MOU with The Encinitas Project!

We are thrilled to share a major milestone for our community! At their June 17th meeting, the Encinitas City Council voted 5-0 to unanimously approve our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

What This Means for Our Future

This MOU establishes a formalized, working partnership between the City of Encinitas and The Encinitas Project. It creates a clear roadmap for our collaboration, outlining specific Encinitas Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts projects and services where the City is seeking community fundraising and grant support. It also ensures full accountability by detailing our nonprofit reporting and insurance guidelines.

A Unified Community Effort

We didn’t get here alone. We are incredibly grateful to have received crucial letters of support from an impressive and diverse coalition of local nonprofit and business partners. A huge thank you to:

  • Encinitas Friends of the Arts
  • Encinitas Trails Coalition
  • Nature Collective
  • Cardiff Town Council
  • Cardiff 101 Main Street
  • Encinitas 101 Main Street
  • Leucadia 101 Main Street
  • Encinitas Chamber of Commerce

What’s Next?

Our Board of Directors is energized and ready to dive into the next phase of launching the fundraising initiatives outlined in the agreement.

As part of our commitment to accountability, we will publish the fully executed MOU on our website as soon as it is signed by City staff and our leadership. You’ll be able to find it under About Us > Financial Transparency.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Let’s get to work!
